Business Advisor – Mid West/Gascoyne
Teagan kicked off her career in 1998 washing dishes for a family run Geraldton Café. Fast forward 25 years and she is still washing dishes, but this time for her own successful small Business, Burnt Barrel! That in-between time was spent travelling the world, gaining invaluable experience in Hospitality and Retail Management and meeting some amazing people along the way!
After graduating university, Teagan worked in Marketing roles across Perth before heading to the (not so sunny) London in 2009 where she worked as the Group Marketing Manager for Bodean’s BBQ Group. With 6 Restaurants across Greater London to manage as well as successfully launching a range of retail products into Sainsburys Supermarkets, it was a busy and varied role that saw her involved in all aspects of Business Management, Event Management, Franchising, Sponsorship and Retail portfolio management.
Upon returning to (maybe a bit too sunny after 5 years!) Western Australia, Teagan took on the Senior Marketing Manager role for Jones Lang LaSalle, working for the Perron Group on their retail portfolio which included Mirrabooka Square, Cockburn Central and Belmont Forum Shopping Centres. During her time there they were awarded the ‘Shopping Centre of the Year’ and ‘ Best digital Marketing Strategy’ at the Property Council Shopping Centre Marketing Awards – an absolute career high!
Unable to sit still in the boardroom and eager to get back into the fast-paced world of Hospitality, Teagan and her Husband (a Hungarian Chef she had stolen from Bodean’s kitchen when she left!) decided it was time to realise their dream of opening their own BBQ Restaurant. In 2015 the gates to Burnt Barrel opened in the Chapman Valley! And with some energy to spare, Burnt Barrel’s sister Café, Beached Barrel was opened a year later in 2016 on the amazing Geraldton Foreshore!
8 years, 1 pandemic, Cyclone Seroja and general economic mahem later, both businesses stand strong and successful, with Beached Barrel heading off to new owners in early 2023!
